The Red-mantled saddleback tamarin[1] (Leontocebus lagonotus) is a species of saddleback tamarin, a species of small South American monkey.

  • The red-mantled saddleback tamarin was once thought to be a subspecies of the brown-mantled tamarin Leontocebus fuscicollis.
  • It has a head and body length of between 220 millimeters (8.7 in) and 270 millimeters (11 in), with a tail length of between 275 millimeters (10.8 in) and 330 millimeters. (13 inches) long.
  • It weighs between 350 grams (12 oz) and 400 grams (14 oz).

  • The Red-mantled saddle-back tamarin lives in Peru and Ecuador, and its type locality is in Peru, near the confluence of the Amazon and Napo.
  • Red-mantled saddleback tamarins are arboreal and diurnal and spend most of their time in trees.
  • The life expectancy of wild red-mantled saddleback monkeys is between 8 and 13 years. Those in captivity have a maximum lifespan of 24.9 years.
